installation and safety instructions LB Solutions

Please note the following regarding the electrical connection:

  1. LB Solutions items for indoor and outdoor use must be connected in accordance with generally applicable conditions for sanitary installations.
  2. The cable to the LB Solutions shower is approximately 4 m. Make a watertight connection in accordance with the regulations for the electricity connection outside a radius of 3 meters from the LB Solutions shower.
  3. Have installation and connection carried out by a certified installer and electrician.
  4. You must make your own arrangements for the supply of hot/cold water to the shower to keep the pipes frost-free.
  5. LB Solutions frost protection (TB01) is supplied under the General Warranty Conditions. These can be downloaded from our website.
  6. Place the plug in a socket that has voltage (230V) 365 days a year!
  7. If the molded plug is cut off, the warranty and quality marks will be void at all times.
  8. During installation, make sure that the electrical cord does not get stuck under the base!

Please note: when installing the outdoor shower, make sure that the hoses do not twist when tightening, as this can affect the water volume!

Maintain a healthy water balance
An outdoor shower is there for your pleasure. And that fun starts with pure water. How do you keep that water in excellent condition? To keep your shower attractive, a healthy water balance is a prerequisite. To do this, you first need to familiarize yourself with a few concepts, as they will undoubtedly be familiar to you.

A number of important matters that apply to the commercial management of an outdoor shower are explained below and the methods to be followed are described. All information about preparing your outdoor shower for winter and summer is also explained in this brochure.

Companies have a water pipe that is used by all kinds of people (collective installation). In that case, the building owner is responsible for the quality of the water from the main tap to the taps. For the use of collective (drinking) water installations, a risk analysis must be drawn up and, depending on the findings, a legionella management plan. There are no special requirements or conditions and/or obligation to draw up a legionella management plan for private use.

For a healthy water balance, it is important to pay attention to legionella prevention. This brochure contains a number of guidelines and practical examples on how to deal with legionella prevention in your outdoor shower.

Water pipe installation:
Preferably connect the supply lines of your outdoor shower to a cold and/or hot water pipe that is used regularly. This connection is equipped with shut-off valves and check valves. The supply line must be able to be drained. The hot water heater must be set to at least 60 degrees Celsius (the hot water pipe used must be suitable for this).

Measures when using the outdoor shower:

  1. If the outdoor shower is equipped with a foot shower, open this tap first and let the cold water run for approximately 10 minutes. Then (if present) let the hot water run for 10 minutes.
  2. If the outdoor shower is equipped with a hand shower, remove the hand shower from the holder and place it near the drain and/or decking. Then slowly open the tap and let the water flow for about 10 minutes.
  3. Then let the warm water (if present) run for 10 minutes.
  4. In the overhead shower, open the cold water tap until the water flows but is not atomized. Let this cold water flow for about 10 minutes.
  5. Then (if present) open the hot water tap until the water flows but is not atomised. Let this warm water flow for about 10 minutes.

Outside temperatures higher than 20 degrees Celsius.
If it is warmer than 20 C° outside, flushing should take place at least once a week, as described when first used. First 10 minutes of cold water, then 10 minutes of warm water. Starting with the foot shower, followed by the hand shower and then the overhead shower.

Remove from use. (Long time, do not use for more than 4 weeks or risk of frost):
Drain the cold and hot water pipes by closing the shut-off valves at the branch. Open the cold and hot taps, dismantle the hand shower and drain the supply lines.

Explanation or background for legionella prevention in an outdoor shower:
Legionella cannot survive in a dry (drained) pipe. So drain well before winter. The hot water is normally "disinfected" by the 60 C° in the heater. With normal use and a well-maintained hot water heater, no legionella is formed. Any legionella that may be present in the cold water is even killed. The cold water pipe must always remain cool, cooler than 25 C°. If this is not met, legionella can grow in the pipe. This is only very difficult to remove by rinsing.

If contamination is detected, the cold water pipe must be thermally disinfected with water warmer than 60 C°. (The pipe must be suitable for this). Contamination occurs via aerosols (water droplets) that are inhaled. Infection occurs via the airways/lungs. Allowing the water to drain slowly first prevents the water from being atomized and possible contamination from occurring.

The current regulations:
If the tap water installation is connected to the network of a drinking water company, the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) monitors legionella prevention together with the drinking water company. The drinking water companies carry out on-site checks; where necessary, they engage the ILT for enforcement. If the installations are not connected to the network of a drinking water company, the ILT carries out independent supervision.
